HUD Opens Fire on Minneapolis Over Racialized Housing The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has launched an investigation into Minneapolis’s so-called “racial equity” housing programs—programs that explicitly allocate housing resources based on skin color and nationality. According to a January 16 statement from HUD’s Office for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO), these policies may be in direct violation of the Fair Housing Act and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, both of which make it illegal to discriminate based on race in any federally funded program.
